We Don’t Have Sarah Palin to Kick Around Anymore

Sarah Palin - Bear Skin

I’m oddly saddened by Sarah Palin’s resignation.

To me she was golden in her ability to turn the Republican party into a farce. Her rise to national prominence was purely farcical. She didn’t know her issues, and didn’t seem to have the depth to become president, but for some reason, many GOPers loved her because she can field dress a moose and is a fundamentalist whose life is a soap opera. Or something.

Some are saying that she’s resigning so that she can more easily run for president in 2012. I call BS on that, as quitting in the middle of her term doesn’t quite fit with her self-proclaimed “fighter” image.

I think she’s out of elective politics for good.

My gut tells me that she’s quitting because there is some kind of scandal brewing, but the reason really could be something as simple as a temper tantrum.

In any case, her rambling press conference, reminiscent of her Katie Couric interview will go down in history as the bizarre end to a ludicrous chapter in American history. My only hope is that when she goes on her book tour, her throngs of adoring wingnut supporters will convince her to reenter electoral politics so we can watch Sarah, Huckabee, Mittens, and other candidates try to outcrazy eachother in the 2012 GOP primaries.
